Choosing a Theme: the gallery, previews, and how to pick well
A theme is the complete design of your storefront: page layouts, product cards, navigation, checkout flow, search, wishlists, banners, popups, and even the chatbot character are all designed together as one coherent system. Themes are not color swaps — each one is built from scratch with its own structure and interaction patterns, so a baker theme genuinely behaves differently from a jewelry theme. Open **Configure → Theme** to browse the gallery. There are 73 themes at the time of writing, and every one ships with a light mode by default and a matching dark mode. ## Preview on your real catalog Never judge a theme from a screenshot. The gallery lets you preview any theme against your actual products, collections, and brand colors before committing: 1. Open **Configure → Theme** and find a theme you like. 2. Click **Preview**. Your storefront opens with a floating preview bar at the bottom: it names the theme and offers **Apply theme** and **Exit preview**. 3. Walk the whole store in the preview: home, products, a product page, collections, the cart, and checkout. Add a product to the cart — the cart drawer is themed too. 4. If it feels right, click **Apply theme**. If not, exit and try another. Nothing is saved until you apply. Previewing never touches your data: products, orders, and customers are shared infrastructure that every theme renders. Applying a theme changes presentation only. ## Picking by niche Themes are designed with a business in mind. Starting from one that matches your trade gets you layout decisions that already fit your products: | If you sell | Start with | Why it fits | | --- | --- | --- | | Coffee, tea, roasted goods | Ember Roast | Roast-dial details, tasting-note chips, freshness cues | | Dates, dried fruit, premium grocery | Palm Grove | Harvest-batch stamps, grade medallions, origin storytelling | | Perfume, oud, attar oils | Attar House | Note pyramids, vial silhouettes, wax-seal details | | Children books, toys, learning kits | Little Lantern | Age-ladder browsing, warm toy-block cards, parent-trust strips | | Pet supplies | Waggington | Playful kennel cards and paw-dot paths | | Leather goods, heritage accessories | Saddle Works | Saddle-stitch rules, maker stamps, workshop tone | | Stationery, fine writing | Paperfold | Letterpress headings, postmark checkout, ruled paper | | Skincare, halal beauty | Gloss Atelier | Ritual steps, ingredient chips, dropper motifs | | Jewelry, fine accessories | Carat Atelier | Vitrine lighting, certificate details | | Audio and hi-fi gear | Soundstage HiFi | VU meters, walnut and brass materials | The gallery covers many more trades — fashion, electronics, groceries, services, art. Filter by category and preview two or three candidates rather than settling on the first. ## Make it yours A theme is a starting point, not a costume. Your brand carries through every theme: - **Brand tokens.** Your primary and accent colors from **Configure → Appearance** are consumed by the theme as design tokens — buttons, links, and highlights adopt your palette without breaking the theme’s contrast rules. - **Logo and name.** Set in Appearance; themes render it in their own way (some use a seal, some a wordmark, some an icon plate). - **Theme settings.** Each theme exposes a small settings surface (for example, product grid columns on desktop). Settings are per theme and reset when you switch, by design — a different structure may make old settings meaningless. - **Dark mode.** Every theme ships a dark mode that follows your storefront’s theme toggle. No extra configuration is needed. ## Changing your mind Switching themes is safe and reversible. Your catalog, orders, customers, pages, and blog are untouched by theme changes. The only things that do not follow you are theme-specific settings (they belong to the old theme’s structure). If a launch is planned around a seasonal look, apply the seasonal theme for the campaign and switch back afterwards — the store keeps selling throughout. > Tip: Preview on a phone-sized window too. All themes are mobile-first, but your products are long or short in different ways — check how your own photos crop in the grid before applying. ## FAQ **Can I edit a theme’s code?** No. Themes are platform-managed so they stay fast and correct. Your branding, content, and settings are the supported customization layer. **Do themes affect speed or SEO?** All themes render the same clean, server-generated HTML and inherit the platform’s performance and structured-data work. Choose on fit, not on speed folklore. **Will my brand colors look right on any theme?** Themes map your tokens onto their own palette system with contrast safeguards. If a theme’s character clashes with your brand (a forest-green brand on a neon theme), preview before applying — the best matches are designed for your trade. ## Related guides - [Appearance: make the storefront yours](/docs/appearance) - [Getting Started: from zero to a live store](/docs/getting-started)
